Judy has been responsible for a wide range of projects, including new business development initiatives, corporate recrutiment/branding programs, outplacement/transition services for large employee groups and the Major League Baseball All Star Game.

Johnna Robinson, Consultant, Grant-Tech
Johnna is a Social Media Consultant with significant professional experience in a variety of areas, including: family advocacy, administrative operations, training, and project management. Johnna earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree from DePaul University, recently completed program studies at Flashpoint Media Academy and is a Certified Human Resource Specialist (CHRS).  Johnna has worked for the University of Illinois at Chicago, Institute of Juvenile Research and is currently providing Social Media consulting services for Grant-Tech and other companies in the Chicago area.

EDGEArt Art Walk Artist Jessica Lucas Talks to the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce about Her Experience as an Artist in Edgewater

You can view Jessica’s artwork, along with several other Edgewater artists, at the EDGEArt Art Walk along Bryn Mawr on October 13th from 6-9pm.  Click here for more information on the event and for a list of participating local businesses and artists.

How did you get your start?

My brother was an artist and I grew up around artists.  I took classes at museums and art galleries.  I also went to a very small high school and took a lot of one-on-one classes there, and then went to art school.

Where do you tend to find inspiration?

I’m really interested in positive and negative space.  I’m a printmaker, so I like drawings.  I don’t like abstract things.  I look at my gardens and also like to look at objects that people don’t use anymore, like an old typewriter.  I look at objects that attract.  Like household items, whisks, and such, and look at the patterns within them.

Why do you like working as an artist in Edgewater?

I grew up in Edgewater.  It is a very nice community.  It is very diverse and people tend to be very active in one way or another.  You meet your neighbors and get feedback.  It has been great having the space on Thorndale too.  People are able to come in and the space is filled.  It’s not a neighborhood where people stand back and don’t say anything.

What draws you to participating in local events like these?

It is a way for me to get my art out there, to be seen, to get feedback, and to hopefully develop some of it.  You get to be with a lot of other artists as well.  The art community is one that works by word of mouth, so at every event you meet people and learn about new opportunities.

What are you most excited about for the EDGEArt Art Walk on Bryn Mawr?

I just think that it will be a really fun event.  The street has been renovated so nicely, the stores look wonderful.  And all sort of icons have been developed for the neighborhood, like the Edgewater Beach Apartments.  So this is an event that plays with the space in a fun way.  It will be a great event for the neighborhood.
